When you have large carry on suitcase it will take more space on the cabin then the person who supposed to share the cabin with you it won’t have room for his carry on bag, luggage or pack back.

My tip for carry on luggage is: don't carry on! Stick it all in the hold so we don't have the chaos and scramble at boarding and during a flight.

My wife and I are in our mid ‘60’s and only travel with carry-on luggage. My wife fits in more clothes than I do but I take clothes that I can wash in the hotel or B&B bathroom sink. I could get away with only 3 pair of underwear but I take 5, change daily and always have a clean pair ready to go. I only take a few pairs of socks, again, I can wash and dry and never be without a clean pair. I usually take 5 shirts made up of 1 long sleeve T-shirt if it is Spring or Autumn, a couple of short sleeve T’s and a couple of golf shirts. We do tend to travel Spring and Autumn to avoid crowds so that does dictate the type of clothing. I usually have fleece sweater and rain coat as well as a ball cap and a floppy sun hat. Toiletries are minimal for me, little hair and one blade lasts me a while. I have medical gear that need to take but it all fits. Rule of thumb, take less stuff but more money, you can almost always buy whatever you might need.

My question is what does that carry on actually weigh when fully packed? I don't know what the limit is in the US but most European carriers limit carry on bags to 8 kg and personal bags to 2 kg.

Must be a big suitcase! What size is the suitcase? We take a 21 inch for a month.

The travel size hair dryers or curling irons is a good tip, but also, women's clothing is frequently thinner than men's--which should help create space in their bags for hair care supplies and cosmetics.

The luggage dimension limit may be workable to squish the clothes but the weight limit (11lbs ? 15-17 lbs. ) is hard. Any tips for a 10day European trip ? The luggage alone is at least 7-9 lbs. A backpack is at least over 2lbs. Any tips would be appreiciated.

If you go on vacation for over a week you can not only take carry on luggage. Which make common sense. So then I guess they have to step up and actually make sure a bag is getting to the vacation with the owner. Sorry but for a for ex 2 weeks vacation as a woman, only a carry on is not an alternative. And every clothing and item has weight to it, and with a carry on bag you can take far less weight , so even if "oh I can put it in a carry on bag , you still have the weight restriction ".

Still a huge amount. Rules of 3 for me. 3 of everything into packing cubes. I’m short, cannot lug too much. Every third day laundry. Good way to meet people.
